Built on a shop floor, not in a boardroom
Rotaleave started inside a working UK steel-fabrication business. We had welders, machinists and office staff — some salaried, some hourly — and a wall planner that was wrong by February.
The leave tools we tried assumed everyone works 9-to-5, books whole days, and that one approver per team is enough. Our shop floor didn't work like that. Cover mattered: two welders off at once meant missed deliveries. Hours mattered: a machinist doesn't take a "half day", they take the four hours they need.
So we built the tool we couldn't buy: leave planning that understands departments, cover limits, hourly balances and UK bank holidays — with rota planning built in, and priced so a ten-person workshop pays nothing at all.
We use Rotaleave to run our own business every day. When something annoys you, it probably annoyed us first — tell us and it'll get fixed.
