RotaCloud is a strong, established rota tool. Clocking in is an add-on, and every team pays from the first person. Rotaleave includes clock-in and is free for 10 or fewer.

Where RotaCloud is better
RotaCloud has been doing rotas for years and it shows: bulk shift editing, budget caps and labour forecasting against sales on Pro, SMS shift alerts as an add-on, and a free terminal app for clocking in. It offers enforced two-factor sign-in on Pro; Rotaleave has no two-factor sign-in yet. Its support team is based in York and offers live chat and phone support. If rota planning across many sites is the heart of your week, RotaCloud is the more mature tool.
Rotaleave is the better fit for smaller teams, and for teams where holiday rules matter as much as shifts: department limits, cover rules and holiday in hours are included, and clock-in costs nothing extra.
Moving from RotaCloud
Rotaleave has no direct RotaCloud importer. Most teams move across with a spreadsheet instead. The staff CSV import takes one row per person: name, email, role, start date, annual allowance, department, team and working days. You see a preview first, and nothing is saved until you click Import.

Switching questions
Can I import my data from RotaCloud?
There is no direct RotaCloud importer. Put your team in a spreadsheet and bring it in with the staff CSV import: names, emails, roles, start dates, annual allowances, departments, teams and working days. You see a preview before anything is saved. If you also want past leave brought across, contact us and we will talk it through with you.
Is clocking in extra on RotaCloud?
Yes. RotaCloud’s Time & Attendance add-on, which covers clocking in and timesheets, is priced by headcount band: £9 a month for 6–10 employees, £18 for 11–20 and £27 for 21–30 on monthly billing. In Rotaleave, clock-in and timesheets are part of the price.
Who counts as an employee on RotaCloud’s price?
RotaCloud asks you to include yourself and every other user, admin and manager. Rotaleave counts the same way: everyone on the account who is not archived. The difference is the price: 10 people is £0 on Rotaleave and £20 a month on RotaCloud Standard.
Do rota and holiday share one screen in Rotaleave?
Yes. Leave shows in each person’s row on the rota, with pending requests outlined, so you see who is off while you plan. A shift on a day of leave gets a warning mark, and you can book leave straight from the rota.
