Pro-rata holiday calculator
Scale a full-time holiday allowance down to a part-time working pattern — in days or hours per week. Part-time staff are entitled to the same 5.6 weeks as everyone else, just pro-rata to the time they work.
Estimate only, based on statutory rules — not legal advice. Round up in the worker’s favour.
Lots of part-time patterns to track?
Rotaleave stores each person’s pattern and keeps their pro-rata balance to the minute — including a fair share of bank holidays. See hourly holiday →
Common questions
How do you work out pro-rata holiday?
Take the full-time allowance and scale it by the part-timer’s share of a full-time week. If full-time is 25 days over 5 days, someone on 3 days gets 25 × 3/5 = 15 days. Round up to the nearest half day.
Should pro-rata holiday include bank holidays?
If full-timers get bank holidays as part of their allowance, part-timers should get a pro-rata share too — otherwise those who don’t work Mondays lose out. Many employers give everyone a “pot” of holiday hours to avoid this.
Does it work in hours?
Yes. Switch the unit to hours per week and enter the full-time and part-time weekly hours — the ratio is the same, so the pro-rata share is identical.
